Short Course: ELECTRONICS II


Catalog Description:  This course covers the frequency response of single-stage and multi-stage transistors amplifiers, power amplifiers and the basics of analog integrated circuits. 

Prerequisites by topic:  Circuit Analysis; Calculus; Active Semiconductor Devices; Computer Usage.

Course Objectives
This course introduces the students to the details of design of single transistor amplifiers, multi-transistor amplifiers, and other electronic circuits.  The course describes and explains the operation of amplifiers, the frequency response of active devices, current sources, active loads, and voltage reference circuits.  The course also explains the design of electronic circuits that contains several active semiconductor devices. On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Analyze the BJT and FET transistor amplifiers types and configurations for gains, impedance, and frequency response.

  2. Design the BJT and FET transistor amplifiers types and configurations for gains, impedances, or frequency response.

  3. Analyze operational amplifier circuits.

  4. Design an operational amplifier circuit to achieve a specific function.

  5. Explain the internal circuitry of a typical integrated circuit operational amplifier.
